The reports by the Commission on Accountability and Policy for Religious Organizations represent the collective work of a very diverse array of thought leaders from across the nonprofit sector – both religious and secular, as well as highly-respected members of the legal community from across the country.

The Commission's recommendations represent practical solutions for enhancing accountability through improved self-regulation and donor engagement, as well as solutions for addressing the untenable current state of affairs related to the prohibition of political campaign intervention by 501(c)(3) organizations.

We believe that those who apply intellectual integrity in considering the Commission's recommendations and the basis for them will see the wisdom and discernment manifested therein.

It is our sincere hope that these recommendations will make a positive difference in America's nonprofit sector.
Michael E. Batts, Commission Chairman
